First envisioned by Head Distiller Cameron Syme as a tribute to the rare character of Western Australian peat, Darkest Winter has become one of our most awarded and internationally recognised whiskies. In 2017, it was named World’s Best International Craft Whisky at the prestigious USA ADI Spirits Competition.

Hand-distilled on the edge of Princess Royal Harbour in Albany, Darkest Winter Overreach is our most peated expression to date — a powerful, cask-strength single malt crafted for those who savour bold, peated intensity with the distinctive Limeburners smooth signature.

Produced using water drawn from ancient limestone aquifers and premium local barley, this whisky is smoked with hand-foraged Western Australian peat from an 8,000-year-old bog nestled deep in the Valley of the Giants near Walpole. Smoked over an extended period, this distinctive peat imparts a rich, earthy intensity that sets Overreach apart.

Matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels at our Porongurup distillery and bottled at true cask strength, Darkest Winter Overreach has a full-bodied taste with a smooth sweet finish. A splash of water unleashes the depth and roundness to the peat phenols while revealing the malted barley.
