Creamy and vanilla-forward, Tiger Snake Whiskey is the ‘bourbon’ of Australia.
Tiger Snake was Australia’s first version of a sour mash whiskey, taking inspiration from the great Tennessee Whiskeys and Kentucky Bourbons to bring you a damn fine drink.
In the same way Champagne recognises wine from the renowned region in France, Bourbon is a geographic indicator. In Australia we refer to this style as a ‘Sour Mash’ Whiskey, thanks to the unique grain mashing process used to craft this flavoursome mixed grain whiskey.
Using 100% Western Australian ingredients, this impressive sour mash is crafted using a classic grain bill of corn, rye, malted barley, and occasionally the old hybrid grain “triticale”. All grains are sourced from within Western Australia.
Tiger Snake opens with a floral bouquet before hitting the taste buds with notes of vanilla-soaked hazelnut, caramel and a hint of zesty citrus rind. It is well textured with a smooth finish.
As each barrel will exhibit its own unique characteristics, creating slight variation from barrel to barrel, we utilise a solera system whereby several casks are emptied to a large holding tank and left to marry. Half of the blended batch is then sent for filtering and bottling, and the remaining half is retained and the blending tank is topped up with new barrels. Adopting this approach ensures there is a consistency of our products from batch to batch.
The average age of this product is 5 to 8 years.
